There are various methods you can use to install corner guards, depending on the type of guard you choose. Most corner guards are easy to install, and in a few simple steps and proper preparation, you will have your corner guards in place. The below guide gives instructions on how to install corner guards for both the screw-on type and the adhesive type corner guards. Read on.
Adhesive Corner Guards
Prepare the wall surface by cleaning to ensure it is dust free.
Get the height measurement and corner guard fit, and cut to fit if necessary.
If you need to cut the guard, mark the place you need to cut and use snips or a miter saw.
Put 0.25" beads of adhesive in beads at the backside of each corner guard wing to ensure that the adhesive lies at the wing center to prevent it from squeezing out.
Align the corner guard placement from the beginning of the wall and the bottom of the corner guard. If perfectly aligned, gradually press the corner guard onto the wall surface from the bottom to the top.
Apply continuous pressure on the guard for proper adhesion
Ensure to clean out any excess adhesive before curing
Ensure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions on an adhesive set time and cure time
Double Sided Tape Corner Guards
Prepare the wall surface by cleaning
Check height measurement and corner guard fit and cut down the length if needed.
Remove the tape backing from one corner guard wing
Start peeling at 3” parts of the backing on the opposite wing. This will leave the 3” part open and off the corner guard
Place the corner, ensuring that the taped side sits evenly against the corner
Once the taped part is in place, peel out the remaining backing by pulling out the open 3” part against the wall and away from the corner guard
Press the guard firmly against the wall for full adhesion
